It's been decided. We are going to Turks & Caicos for our honeymoon! As you know from my last post regarding the honeymoon, we had some big requirements--somewhere family & close friends hadn't been, international, the option to both sit & relax and go on adventures, and warm. We've tossed around a lot of ideas. South Africa was my biggie, but the flight alone would cost around $1500 each and take up to 24-hours. Similar situation with New Zealand. At this stage in our lives, neither of those are reasonable options.
Turks & Caicos isn't a consolation prize. It's financially sensible, gorgeous (other than being in hurricane territory...), will be having their monthly glowworm orgy just as we're arriving (yes, that link IS work-safe!! I promise [I'm writing this at work]), and has a ton of other things to do: explore caves, snorkel coral reefs (3rd largest in the world), horseback riding and glass-bottomed semi-submarine rides. Now the only trouble is going to be deciding what NOT to do!
I'll be honest. I never thought of myself as the tropical island honeymoon type. But I think that might be why I'm really excited about this--it's something so different; which I really feel should be a key part of one's honeymoon. I'm thinking that, once we have sent out the Save the Dates, we will start talking to a travel agent and working on our honeymoon registry.
Now, let's just keep our fingers crossed that this year was Turks & Caicos' year for hurricanes & they won't get any in early October next year.

Be sure the travel person actually makes reservations for 2. Laugh if you must, but when Bill booked ours, the agent made reservations for ONE. Bill had to remind her that honeymoons usually involve 2 people (:>
